Shanty is a rather special horse. Although he was his dam's second foal there were plenty of complications came along with the pregnancy that led up to his eventual birth. The colt was a small, tiny thing and many didn't think he'd survive. After weeks of being cooped up in a stall at the local equine hospital Shanty ended up pulling through and was finally reunited with his dam back at Kennington Farm. The time spent away from his mother at such a young age had an affect on the horse and he's a become a bit of a cribber growing up. The colt is one of the only horses here that needs a cribbing collar but it only helps him so much.

He's a nervous horse and always watch the world around through wide eyes, the whites almost always showing. At home he doesn't like to be alone and would sooner want to be babied then out in the pasture by himself. Since he was bottle-fed for a good portion of his young life he expects the same with his feed and has become rather needy as a result. Although he has his anxious moments, he's a kind, lovable horse and wants to please his handlers just as much as anyone else. He keeps trying and trying until he gets it done right and never gives up.
