Summer is a gentle and reserved filly who takes time to trust but gives her all for those who earn it. Her laid back nature makes her easy to work with and while when it comes to the track she is a quick learner she can be a bit clumsy in the stable, often knocking things over by mistake or standing on her handler's foot if she loses focus.
While she handles nicely most of the time, her fear of needles can make it interesting when the vet comes to call. Even seeing the vet can make her edgy and if that needle comes close to her don't think she's going to stand nicely while you inject her - she is going to put up a fight. In the pasture she is a little quiet, tending to follow around more dominant horses. She doesn't get bullied though, she just exists quietly amongst the others. Summer tends to become more energetic when it comes to racing, and certainly seems to enjoy the competitive atmosphere.
This quiet filly may seem unassuming in the parade ring, neither showing off or making a fuss. She loads with relative ease and never causes track staff much issue before a race. When the gates open she breaks with ease - not at some neck-breaking speed but not about to be left in the dust either. She likes to run in the middle of the field - either tucked just behind the leaders or a little further back although never too far from the pace. Thankfully she is fairly versatile and responds well to signals from her jockey. In the stretch, this girl is all power - firing down the track with unflinching will and determinations which only intensifies with the challenge she is faced with.
