Ash is a very eager colt, who is always ready to get going. In fact, he is often too eager and has been known to knock over, or drag, unsuspecting grooms. He's not nasty - he just doesn't seem to realise he's not a foal anymore. His ground manners are something which are being worked on at home in the hopes of reducing the likelihood of somebody getting injured due to his boisterous nature. His energy is matched to a pretty broad stubborn streak - a kind of I will do it but my own way attitude. Everything is done in a rush, and finesse isn't something this colt seems to have mastered. As such, it's important to keep a pretty busy schedule with this boy to avoid him becoming too hot with pent up energy and getting even more boisterous. He likes to be the boss in the pasture, and in the parade ring requires multiple handlers as the presence of other colts can cause him to become wound up.

This energetic colt can be trouble at the gate, needing to load first and taking several handlers to line him up and get him loaded. Yet then he queits, as if the contraption flicks a switch. When the gates open he shoots from them quickly and pushes for the front, setting a fast pace. He isn't about to let another horse take the lead from him, he has to have that position and will just keep running, trying to put lengths between himself and the rest of the field.​ It is his stamina that really sets him apart, he doesn't seem to tire and can hold his pace from gate to post. He doesn't tend to have a lot more to give in the closing stages of the race, but he won't go down without a fight either.
