Sire: Wannabe Hero

We're not quite sure Waldemar knows what his personality is yet - if he ever will. Most of the time he considers himself the king of the stables, and is quite overly confident and bossy around everyone who is near him. However there are inexplicable times where he becomes tentative, moody, fearful, and mean. No one has pin pointed exactly what sets off this behavioral change, but the former attitude is much easier to work with than the latter. We've decided to give him extra space at REI, give him a companion gelding and let him mostly do his own thing when he's not in training. Generally his jockey Evander does most of his grooming and saddling, to assess his demeanor for the day and also build up a better relationship. Demar isn't too fond of people, but Evander is cracking his tough exterior to get the colt to work better with him. He's had a bit of a tough start in life so far, but we're pegging him to be one that improves with age.
For some strange reason he loves jelly beans - and prefers lots of noise rather than quiet. A very passionate racer, Demar has come to love his runs with his jockey. A solo trainer at home, Waldemar knows pretty much one speed and one spot - fast at the front. Finicky about the gate, a few times (jelly beans have helped us get him in there), he is known to bang the chute a few times. Never quite settling, he'll jig a little, and the moment those gates open he's a full blown speed demon. Evander has been working extremely hard to rate his speed and acceleration so his stamina lasts, and he's improved a lot since he was a juvenile at this. This colt has a lovely form of movement, his lines make him look like he's floating as he races hard over the furlongs. Demar wants and keeps the lead at any cost, he'll become unruly and angry if anyone overtakes him or challenges him.
Demar doesn't really like the gates, he can be tricky to load and never seems to quite settle - on his toes and jigging about until the chute opens. Once they do, he's like a bullet out of them and speeds down the track. He only has one place he wants to be - the front - and he'll get very grumpy if anyone gets in front of him.
He runs, start to finish, like a train - gaining speed and momentum in a true show of grit and determination. If there is anything certain, it is that this stallion isn't going down without a fight.
