While his full sister takes after their mother, Ed completely takes after Tempered Passion. He's a jerk when he wants to be, a brat when he needs to be, and is just unnecessarily hard-headed. However, he is a very quick thinker and responds to almost anything instantaneously. Ed's a very loud horse and will often neigh straight into your ear - something he becomes quite proud of and hence why he's a jerk. He's a messy eater, often seen throwing his buckets around at feed time to protest the amount of food he receives. In the field, when Ed was a baby he was too rough with other horses and as he got older he was often turned out alone. Like his name suggests, Ed isn't the nicest horse to be around especially in the field or in the barn. He will kick, bite, squeal and do pretty much anything to get what he wants, even for the smallest things.

Like his family, Ed loves to run in the middle of the field. He loves getting dirty and rough whether it be on turf or dirt, though we think he prefers the dirt more. Ed breaks evenly for the most part and quickly settles into the middle and likes to hang out there until rounding the turn. Being a quick thinker, Ed, alongside his jockey, uses his sharpness to wiggle himself out of the middle if he finds himself getting boxed in. Being responsive is key in being a sprinter and Ed uses this to his full advantage. Without being aware of it, he often gets heavy in his jockey's hands and is constantly reminded to pick his feet up. However when Ed sees the finish line in sight it almost looks like he's making a beeline for the finish. ​
