Des is what we like to call 'The Life of the Party'. He has his dam's jokester personality, but has the desire to please from his sire. This made him a pleasure to train and also ensured that things were never a dull moment. He works well with just about anyone on his back, but sometimes needs the visionary rider to see ahead and set a path for him to success. While some Intrepid horses are known for their cunning and ruthlessness, Des is known for his heart. Equipped with the right rider on his back he will bend over backwards and fight tooth and nail to get where he's asked and he doesn't give up. It's this heart and drive that is a fresh personality for Intrepid's barns. They have had success with his older sister Quick Silver, but he's made it clear - he's not his foul tempered sister. He doesn't need to be harassed or tricked to perform. He just needs to be asked and he will do it.
Come race day, he's a sight to behold. Always on the muscle and on his toes, he's the picture of a racehorse ready to run. He has a solid mind and there isn't much that can rattle his cage so to speak, but Ethan still prefers to keep the earplugs in for the colt, to help keep him focused. He's a solid colt, both in build and in mindset and that is what makes him such a threat on the tracks. Granted, given his more bulkier frame he was never one to break immediately from the gates, but with his long-stride it wasn't much of an issue for this colt to make up a lot of ground without expending a lot of energy. Once rolling, he moves to settle just off the pace behind the leaders to either stalk them or settle back to lead the pack. His bulk and weight ensures that he doesn't get jostled too much and can easily create a path for himself. As the end draws near, Des begins to shift and grind into a new gear. In short, he flies. Given his head and the go-ahead, Des will release all his fury and fly home to the finish taking on all comers and fighting for his victory.
