Bright, alert, intelligent, and reactive are some of the words most commonly used to describe Ollie, a colt who seems determined to make his mark in the memories of everyone who has the pleasure to meet him. In fact, he'd much rather spend his day wowing his adoring public than wasting his time on other horses and is always eager to spend time with people. This is the horse that's at the fence waiting for you to bring him in, even if ten minutes before he was begging to be turned out and performing airs as you've released him as if he's not been out in forever. It doesn't matter than he was only out yesterday. Perhaps one of the things that stands out most about Ollie is his absolute, terrible fear of small things. Particularly minis, ponies and donkeys. He goes absolutely crazy when he sees one and would much rather go the long way around than be near those strange, small horses. What happened to them, anyway? Did someone shrink them? When it comes to preparing for the races, Ollie is equally memorable - but for an entirely different reason. He adores being loaded and heading to the track so when he sees the van he tends to perk up, ears forward and eager to get there. Like all horses, he does enjoy the occasional treat and will pretty much bite your fingers off for some sweet potato.
Ollie loves the track - even a journey to the track is a treat for him and a race is the best. He is bright and alert in the pre-race parade, ears forward and moving with ease; and he loads well when it comes to the gates. His break is messy and far from perfect, but it works well enough for a horse that prefers to be at the back of the pack. For two furlongs, he barely seems to engage - instead enjoying just running. But when his jockey asks he starts to move up, closing the gap before they reach the stretch and flying through the final two furlongs. Ollie enjoys the fierce competition at the end of the race, he is unflinching in the face of a challenge and gives his all - a spirited ball of energy who just does not give in.
